Communities We Serve
Our first-due response district covers a wide stretch of Goliad County — from residential communities to critical infrastructure and a busy public park.
Fannin
An unincorporated community in eastern Goliad County and home to our station. Fannin grew up around a railroad depot built in 1889 and was an important livestock shipping center in the early 1900s. Today it’s the heart of our response district.
Cologne
A historic community founded in 1877 by former slaves Jim Smith and George Washington as a place for freedmen to settle safely during Reconstruction. Located on US Highway 59 near the Victoria County line, it remains part of our first-due coverage area.
GBRA Coleto Creek Park
A joint project of the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority and Coleto Creek Power, the park and reservoir cover 3,100 surface acres with 61 miles of shoreline. It’s a busy year-round destination for camping, fishing, boating, and swimming — and part of our response district.
Coleto Creek Power Plant
A 650-megawatt power generating facility that has operated in Fannin since 1980, currently transitioning from coal to natural gas. It’s a critical piece of regional infrastructure and a key site in our coverage area.
